New Lambs on the Farm!!

I have lots to blog about today. :) This is my third post today.

On Saturday, Knit had her 2 babies. I am praying for all ram lambs this year because I used a Katahdin ram. Katahdin's are hair sheep, not wool sheep. So, these babies will all go for meat. Knit's babies are both little rams. None of the babies have names yet.

This is our little farm helper for the last 2 weeks. I am glad the lambs were born while he was here.

Abigail had her little ram lamb this morning. He is adorable. He has spots.

It looks like he is preaching to the other sheep here. :)

It looked like Purl was in labor, so we will probably have more baby lambs today. :)

Freedom Farm Campout

On Memorial Day weekend, my brother and his family host a big camp out on their farm. It gets bigger each year. We went out on Sunday morning to spend some time with them. There was a big breakfast smorgasbord and then church around the fire. I took a big pan of my cinnamon rolls.

After everyone had gathered around the fire, Scott called his whole family up and gave thanks to the Lord for them and also for the farm that God provided. The whole family led in the singing.

This is my brother Scott that you have been praying for. He had a black eye. I asked him what happened. He was giving one of their ponies some water and the pony swung his head up before Scott was out of the way.

Here are some pictures from around the property showing all that was going on.

This dog, Johnny, belongs to another brother of mine. There were at least 8 dogs running around and they all got along for the most part.

Scott made a huge slip and slide to come down the hill into their pond. There is water pumped up from the pond that shoots down the slide. The heavier the rider, the faster they went. Don't forget to turn the music off in the sidebar.

They also have a large trail that goes up and over hills and through the creek that everyone was riding quads on. There is a lot to do there.

Count Your Blessings Monday!!

Here is an opportunity for all of us to give thanks unto the Lord for a blessing in our lives. If you would like to take part great. If not that is OK too. If you would like to share your blessing, just leave it in the comments. If you want to use the picture above and list a blessing on your own site, then leave a URL to your site in the comments. There is no pressure here. I just know that I am incredibly blessed and I would like to share that and give thanks to Him who all blessing come from. This is a way that we can encourage one another. I know that I am often encouraged when someone shares a blessing with me. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

Today, I want to give thanks to all the brave men and women who have given their lives so that I can live in this free country. Some gave their life literally. Others give their lives through being separated from friends and family. Their families give their lives by being separated from their loved ones. Freedom does not come cheaply.

I was at my brother's camp out yesterday. He spoke about the men and women in the different arms of the Service, but he also talked about those godly people in our lives who prayed for us. Our Grandma's and Mom's. They have gone on to heaven, but while they were here, they gave their lives for us... taking care of us, but most importantly they prayed for us, and told us about the Lord.

Then there is the ultimate life that was given for us and that is Jesus. He who was sinless came and died in our place that we might be free to live with Him for all eternity.

I am thankful for all of the above.

Begging for Peanuts

We currently have the sheep right out our back door. They eat the grass between the house and the garden. They have even been in the garden eating down all the weeds. We will be tilling and planting this weekend. They prepared the ground for us. :)

If they hear us, they come to the back door to beg for peanuts. :)

They should all start having their babies soon.

Farm Updates

Now, there are 3 eggs in the nest. We have seen a bluebird around there so we are pretty sure these are bluebird eggs. The eggs are smaller and the nest is different than the starling nest.

This seems to be the favorite hummingbird feeder. They empty it first.

We have lots of little apples. :) I believe these are the McIntosh.

These are either Mutsu or Golden Delicious.

These are Jonathans.

There are quite a few peaches.

The Blueberry bushes are loaded as well.

Star went on my tour with me. She loves to walk around the yard with someone. She investigates everything.

The multi-flora roses are blooming. They smell so good. Their scent is just in the air out by the woods.

Here are the little wild cherries coming out.

This is coming up our driveway toward the house.

This video was taken on the driveway last evening. The birds were praising the Lord. The air was full of wonderful scents and the air was warm!!

I am thankful that I still have a Dad. He is home. I went to see him yesterday and he looked so much better than the last time I saw him. I am grateful that he has Alice there with him and was not alone when all of this happened.

I am also grateful that my brothers are all still living with each of them having a heart problem.

I am grateful that my friend Melissa who was recently diagnosed with leukemia seems to be finally starting on an upswing.

I can walk, breath, see, hear and so much more. God has been so good to me!!!

News From The Farm

I am sorry that I have not been very good about updating my blog. It seems that life took on a form of its own. I hope to get back to writing on here more often and sharing pictures with you.

For those of you who have asked about my Dad... He is home and doing better. He is still very weak, but walking a bit farther each day. Thank you all so much for praying for him and for the family. My brother still does not have answers, but they are still praying about what to do. We did get good news that my one brother whose heart was only working at 15% is now up to 55%. The pacemaker is doing a good job.

My nephew made me this birdhouse many years ago. I have it up on my porch more as decoration, since I don't have a good place to hang it. This is the second year in a row that a little wren has moved into the upstairs apartment in it. :) She sings REALLY loud, but I love to hear it.

I am not sure if these are multi-flora or berries or what. They are on the side of my house and need to go away. :)

This tree is blooming in the chicken yard. I have not gone up close to see what it is, but I never remember seeing it bloom before. I need to go back and look at last years pictures. I have peach trees that bloom out there, but don't remember this one.

We had good friends from another state come and visit us for a nice long weekend. My Dad had his heart attack after they got here, so it was sort of hectic coming and going, but they were so sweet about it. My dear sweet husband had a birthday on Tuesday. We had the Wonderful Neighbors over (they also knew our company) and had brownies with THICK icing. That was his request. The children had a great time playing.

The two little girls were not too sure about each other. :)

Our friends brought me many wonderful gifts. I was thrilled. One of them was this lamb. He is so soft, especially on his nose. His legs have wires in them and you can pose her or she will stand on her own.

She brought me some blue wool yarn to make a darling bowl like the one in this picture. She gave me the bowl as well. Also, she let me have all the sock yarn on the right. I was thrilled with all my gifts. :)

Here is a close up of the little bowl. It is so cute.

Our friends left their 11 year old with us for awhile to be a farm hand. He is taming a couple of wild kittens he found. He wants to take this one home.

There is a new nest in the bluebird box. I am sure this one IS a bluebird. We have seen them, and the eggs are much smaller and the nest is different.

Here are some of our bovine. This is all of them except for Buttercup.

Here is good old Buttercup. She is at least 14 years old and gives the best milk.

We got the laying chicks out into their tractor. They are loving it.

There are flowers already blooming in my one flower garden. They came up from last year. :)

I pray you all have a wonderful Lord's Day!!!
