Happy 4th of July!!!

I have lots of pictures for you today. We had a good day. We were able to sleep in, which was a blessing. We worked on things around here this morning. Ron & Ginny came over and brought us 2 burn barrels they picked up for us. They walked through our weed patch.... ooops, I mean garden with us. They looked at the new animals on the farm. We need to have them over so we have longer to talk. =)
We went over to another friends house for about 4 hours to visit and have lunch. We have not gotten together with them for awhile. We had a good time there, even if the baby would not let us hold him.
Here is a picture of one area of our garden that does not look too bad. This is our tomatoes and peppers. There are lots of peppers on the plants. I hope and pray we get a good crop of them. We did not get any last year. There are lots of little green tomatoes on the plants. I can't wait for them to ripen.

Something is eating my cabbage. I only planted 3 of them, and I am not sure I will get any. I wanted to make kraut for my honey. This is our first planting of corn. It is pitiful. We think the seed was too old. So, we ordered more and planted it today. It will be a race with the frost date to see if we get any corn.
Here is a picture of all 3 dogs. They went out with me to throw some bitter lettuce to the chickens. I love the next picture of the puppy. So far she is doing really well. Having adult dogs around makes it a lot easier to raise a puppy. She stays outside with them and hangs around.

This is one of our roosters. We have 2 of this breed that have been fighting. This is a Light Brahma rooster.
This rooster is really old. We had him at our last house. We believe he is 6 or 7 years old. His name is McCoy after a friend of ours. =) He sure looks purty for being so old. He is a Buff Orpington.

Here is Grace with her baby, Rambo. Isn't he a pudge.
This is Veritas. He is one of the new lambs.
This is the 4 other new lambs.
I am not sure why they were all standing on this. Maybe they were playing king of the mountain or something.
Click on the next few pictures. You can see the difference in how their wool grows. This is Grace.
This is Charity
This is Sunshine.
Here is one of our steers out laying in the pasture. I just love honey colored jerseys.
We found another hidden nest of eggs. I will have to float them to see how old they are. Today, I heard 2 different chickens who had roamed out in the woods, cackling like they had just layed an egg out there.
I went in the sheep shed and looked behind the door..... Yup... another one.
Inside the sheep shed, there is a milk crate. I looked in there.... Yup 3 more. Some of the chickens actually lay their eggs in the beautiful nest boxes in their coop.
Here is a picture of my flowers up on the barn wall. The geraniums are doing really well. The others could use a good boost.

It's great that you had such a wonderful holiday today! I enjoyed seeing updates of the place. I sure hope you get more rain that we are seeing here for your corn. Well is drying here.

I grew up on a farm that looks a lot like yours. I'm in the city for now but we hope to buy a little land one day. Buff Orpingtons are my favorite chicken ever!
