Show And Tell Friday

Kelli hosts a show and tell Friday. Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!

I cross stitched this quite a few years ago. It was in 1991. At that time I was a city slicker living in town. I look at this now and it is amazing to me how many things I now do or have that are on this cross stitch. I had one woman tell me that it was prophetic.

I spin and have sheep. I can and bake my own bread. I have a wood burning cookstove. I have a cow. I have grapevines and apple trees. I churn butter and yes, I even have a cat.... A BARN CAT GINNY!!!

I left the picture quite large so if you click on it, you can see the details. Thanks for looking.

I've always loved that. And, you can't fool me! I know that you secretly love on those cats and you probably pick them up and hug them and kiss them when no-one is looking! HA! HA! I'm ON to you!!!

Seeing your stitchery reminded me that I started that same project long ago and never finished it. Yours is so nice. I don't remember why I gave up on it but I think I ended up passing it on to a friend who did finish it. Those were the days of BQ - before quilting.

I really like this one, having seen other Prov. 31 cross-stitch patterns that seem, well, pretentious. This one looks so sweet and country-fied. You did a fine job.

This is so sweet. I believe that you're a wonderful example of a virtuous woman.
I really do not like cats either.

Absolutley beautiful!
I am a 'city slicker', but when I visit my grandparent in-laws farm, I feel so serene and at home. Who knows? Maybe one day, I'll join YOU!

I love cross-stich and have tried it several times but I don't have the patience for it.
Yours is awesome! It had to have taken you a long time to do it. Great job and thanks for sharing.

Love that cross stich plaque. You did a beautiful job. I also like that Proverbs 31 verse.

I used to cross stich. I haven't done it in years.

Wow! It's like God was saying "I have a plan for you, you just don't know it yet." It's a beautiful cross-stitch~very nicely done.

I really enjoyed perusing your sampler! It's lovely, and how great to look at all these years later and see how many of those things are true of your own life. I'm a city slicker who thinks she might like to live in the country, but no cows for me; only a cat or two sitting by the fire on a cold evening! I'm dreaming. Your whimsical animals are fun, I like looking at your blog.

So much work went into your cross-stich...you should be proud!

A city slicker gone country. Sounds like you were drawn to that good ole country life for sure. That is a great story and the cross stitch piece is so much fun. Enjoy...

I've always admired people who know how to cross stitch...that's something I could never get the hang of! That project you did is beautiful and how fascinating that you would end up doing or having most of what's pictured on it!! xo

"She's gone country" LOL! I absolutely love that cross stitch. I used to do quite a bit of cross stitch, but lately, it's getting kind of hard to see to do it. Getting old stinks!

That is very well done and so quaint! I use to love to cross stitch... now, even with my progressive lenses I have a bit of time seeing the holes and get a mite frustrated...Thanks for sharing

I hope you have a daughter who will appreciate this, Marci. It is a real family heirloom, and will be worth hundreds of dollars in years to come, if ever your descendants want to sell it. But I hope they don't!!
