Last night I skimmed the top of the sauerkraut and smelled it. I asked Joshua to smell it. He was not too sure about it. =) So, I tasted it. It was very sour, but it tasted OK. When Michael came in, I had him smell it. He said it smelled like sauerkraut. I had him taste it as he is the one who loves it the most. He said it was good. So, today I canned it. I got 4 quarts (one is a bit short) and 4 pints. I am thrilled it turned out.
We are very blessed to live on a farm. We love old fashioned ways of doing things that seem to be fading away. We realize that this lifestyle is not for everyone but we are very grateful that God allows us to enjoy it.

pucker, pucker, saurkraut...I guess it's good, how long does it take to make?
I have a collection to Amazing Grace songs on my blog, I love that song, always makes me cry. I told my daughters they had to play it at my funeral, but not just once, you need to hear it several times to get the good feeling in your heart. I came to your blog from Tipper, who came from RedBarnCo blog, lovely lady who gave away a quilt.
Fall decorations???? Gee, I better get to it!! I'm always late, slow or never show up. Oh, well, I still love people, even if I'm odd and not what you expect. My neighbor was just diagnosed with breast cancer and I can't tell her, "Everything is going to be ok." because that's not what I believe. Death is not some horrible mistake but a natural turn of life on Earth we must ALL face.
I just saw you are in Ohio, I thought it was down South somewhere, you are very down to earth, God bless you. Wait, I learned a something new to say that suits me better, let me see if I can remember it...Blessings to you....that's it.

Marci,
I absolutely LOVE the song by Allison Krauss, "Down to the River to Pray"..... wow whew. That touches my soul, what is the heritage of that song? I am Catholic and that is not a Gospel song I have heard. It takes me way back to where I have never been but in the movies.
Yummy!
Hi Marci,
We have given you an award over at our blog.
~Have a nice day!
It looks beautiful, darling. :-D
Great job! (IS this a first for you?)
I know your dh will be happy! :0)
This was my first time making it. Ginny was my advisor in doing it. It was in the crock for 2 weeks before it was declared done. =)
I have never done saurkraut but I really want to next year.
I don't eat it much but I have read it is REALLY REALLY good for you. So, I guess we need to add it into our meals here.
