Count Your Blessings Monday!! (A Day Late)

I have the generator running again. So, I couldn't resist getting back on here and posting.

Here is an opportunity for you to give thanks unto the Lord for a blessing in your life. If you have a blog, please sign Mr. Linky below and post on your blog. Please link back to this blog and you may use the picture above. If you do not have a blog, leave a comment on this post telling us what you are thankful for and what you are counting as a blessing today. This is a way that we can encourage one another. Many of our blessings we will have pictures of and we can share those as well. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. They encourage others. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

Today, I am thankful that the storm did not do any real damage to us or anyone we know. We are without power, and a few things happened, but no person or animal was hurt. We were told to expect several days of rain, but no one predicted the winds. We had not put anything away or secured anything. They kept changing the forecast as the winds increased. In the end, they say that the winds were sustained between 35 and 55 miles per hour with gusts up to 70 miles per hour. The way our property is set, the wind just whistles right on through without a wind break. We could have had a lot more damage to our house, so we are grateful.

There are several big trees that came down in our woods. God helping Michael cut firewood. They won't be for this winter or at least not until late spring, but they are down and waiting to be cut up. One that came down was a large one and it was already dead, so we will have some firewood to start with.

Our peach tree split in half. It gave that one last hurrah with the peaches we got this year. The one part is still standing, but I am not sure it will survive.
This used to be my dogwood tree in the front yard. =) Kind of short now.
Here is the upper part of that tree over in our side yard.
After the winds had been blowing awhile, the clouds came. We kept hoping they would drop rain on us, but we got basically none.
This is the end of our driveway. Those are power lines you see all coiled up. They were across the driveway, but someone (whom I will not name) moved them over.
If you click on this picture you will see a blue mailbox on the left of the picture. That is where our driveway starts. This tree is the one that fell on the lines and pulled them down.
There is actually 2 trees that went down here. It is hard to see them both. One was smaller. The larger one basically just uprooted and you can see the roots and dirt that came up.
Here are a couple of more pictures of the 2 trees.

We are safe and sound. We have very gracious friends who have lent us their generator, so our freezers and fridges are staying cold. We are sharing it with the neighbor. We have a lot to be thankful for.

What are you thankful for today?

I am thanksful that you are still here. And I am thankful that I am still here. Living in Ak, having secondary power and difficult living conditions many times, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for a handy young man named John Moore.

As always you are making lemonade out of lemons. Glad you and family and animals are all okay. Keeping you in prayer.

Marci,
I am so thankful you all are ok. My mom got that same wind and it took down all of her trees in her backyard. These were the same trees that my grandmother raised in clay pots until they were planted in my parents' yard. They remained there for over 40 years until the wind took them this past Sunday.
grace and peace,julie

I am thankful you all are all right. We had a bunch of wind. Power outage for about 5 hours over night. Not much else. Was hoping for rain.

Praying for electricity for you very soon.

I heard that the winds were high in your state from another blogging friend. I'm so glad you are safe - sorry about your trees, but b etter them than you and your animals and your home!

WOW Marci, that must have been some hard wind! We barely felt anything here in TN. They first showed it was coming straight up through TN, but then it changed courses. I'm glad you are O.K. Love, Clara
