More Storms

As you can see from the above pictures, we had another storm last night. It actually never got really bad at our house. We had lots of wind, some rain, and some lightning and thunder. All around us got hit really hard though. Newark which is to the south of us and Mt. Vernon which is North of us both got hit really hard and had lots of trees down. There were 28,000 homes without power. We were told by the power company that ours may be out for 2 to 3 days. It ended up being out for only 5 1/2 hours. God's power is awesomely displayed in a storm. I love to watch them coming in. The air went from 89 degrees to 68 degrees in a very short time. While I was out taking the pictures, I could feel the cool breeze curl around me. The rain would come slanting from one direction and the come from the opposite direction. I was trying to keep a few windows open for the air, but the rain would not make up it's mind which side of the house it wanted to hit. =)

Hi Marci,
Those were great photos! We have had our share of thunderstorms lately that hardly shed a drop of rain. I like the looks of your house!

Well Fire Keeper, I wish you lived closer to show us some things. =)

Lynn, my house is very strange in many ways. It is a pole barn construction. The one picture that shows the side of it used to be entirely windows. However, the man who put them in had different uses for that room than I did. The windows were just large opening on the entire wall, except for where the posts were. He then screwed storm windows on the outside, then there was screen (although I never understood the screens usage) and then big 4 X 8 pieces of plexiglass that sat in these hooks. If you ever took off the storm windows, you would have had to screw them back up if it rains as this is the side of the house that gets rain. Also, this room was like a greenhouse in the summer and very cold in the winter. We bought some windows at a garage sale and my son took out those other windows. We used someone's left over siding to finish that side. The rest of the house is metal barn siding. =)
