Cabin Fever Cure Give-Away!!

Many of you know that we have an online store. For ten years or more we have been helping people with bread baking, herbs, soap making and different homesteading type things. We get asked a lot of questions and I am told we have lots of resources for people. So, last year, we decided to open up a store and sell some of the items that we really like instead of sending people to someone else.

Business has gone really well so far. We have done very little advertising though and I was trying to think of ways to steer people to our store without spending lots of money. I was also thinking that this is the beginning of what can be a blah time of year for people. In our area of the country it is really cold. The days are very gray and the sun is always a welcome sight, although very rare. People start to get cabin fever.

So, we decided to do a give-away that will help both us and the winner out!!! We are calling it the Cabin Fever Cure Give-Away!! We get people to come and check out our store and the winner gets a bright spot in winter by winning something!

Here is how it will work. We are going to be giving away a $20 gift certificate to our store. Click on the Store banner above and go to The General Store and look around. Come back here and leave a comment on what item or items you would spend your $20 on or towards. If you don't give a specific item or items you will not be entered. Also, if you take one of the 2 logos below and post it on your own blog or web page with a link back to this blog post and tell your readers about the Give-Away, then you will get a second entry. You will have to email me or leave a comment telling me where your post is. My email is on my profile page. The contest will end at midnight EST on January 23rd, 2009.

If you happen to make a purchase between now and then, let me know that and I will put your name in the pot another time. :) Shameless... I know!!! Let the fun begin!!

Wow! am I FIRST?? I would buy the pasta machine (or part of it :D )--or maybe some of those cool spice jars in colored glass-love those and have a LOT of bulk spices in oddball containers! of course I have always yearned for a grainmill....would have ordered alum free braking powder right now if I could have found it :( Great Store! You should add the Kuhn Rikun silicon bowl lids-they are amazing!!-as are their magnetic trivets-a hotpad that sticks to your pan and rides along!

Shalom Marci,

It's me again, Vickilynn.

I just wanted to tell you that I had your site open on my browser while I posted your logo on my site and I LOVED listening to your music choices. Such a blessing!

Thank you!

Oh and I want to shop at your store! Too many great items to take in all at once though! I'll have to keep coming back. :-)

Well, if my husband let me, I'd put the $20 towards the Berkey water filters. If not... perhaps the stainless steel cheese grater. Always could use some gamma lids. Or a stainless steel bread pan.

In your books section, I was wondering if you'd benefit from stocking "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon. I've noticed it's making a comeback in several blogs.

Hi Marci!
I would use my certificate to purchase a nifty yellow 5-gallon bucket and a nifty yellow (or orange) 12-inch gamma lid for storing the dog's dry food.

Of course there is also the Wrapping it Up by VickiLynn Haycroft cookbook I desperately want...
Blessings,
~Evelyn Mae

I would use my $20 towards a Norpro Cooling Rack, the Wrapping It Up book, and the tea infuser spoon.

I also decided to go ahead and purchase the peanut butter stir tool. I can't wait to get it. I hate trying to stir the peanut butter before putting it in the fridge.

Blessings,

Lori Lee

What a great idea! Thanks for helping cure our cabin fever. Just browsing your store helped to brighten my day. I've recently begun baking bread so the bread bags immediately caught my eye. And a pasta machine is high on my list as well!

I clicked over from urban homesteader, and love your blog. I need some basics, so I would choose a bread pan, cooling rack and veggie brush. I don't have a blog, but I have a tip to increase the traffic for this giveaway. Every Tuesday, moneysavingmom.com has a post called Giveaways Galore. She provides a way for other bloggers to link their giveaways. She gets HUGE traffic at her site. She is a Christian stay at home mom, and has three very family friendly blogs. I will be back to visit again soon.

Hi Marci,
Oh, so many choices. I really like the aprons and pot holders but I really need the bread bags, so those would probably win out this time around.

I saw this post a few days ago but couldn't decide what I would spend it on till today (there are so many good choices). I am still torn between 2 items. I like the peppermint oil (I want to give soap making a try this year and have a recipe for one with Peppermint) or using it towards a dehydrator. I am going to be putting in a big garden this year as well as planting some fruit trees and grape vines. I was planning on canning and freezing all of my produce but then I saw the dehydrators!!! I could save so much freezer space by dehydrating my celery, onions and some fruit!

Your give away worked wonders for me. I am so excited for spring now! Thanks a bunch.

I would like to get the reusable tea bags, the peppermint oil, and some of the Dandy beverage.

If I won, I would use the money towards your stainless steel bread pans. I recently started baking my own bread and had some old pans but they are frankly rather in crummy shape and not a great size for my loaves.

Hi Marci,
I still have my eye on your pasta maker!

PS: You took some great snow photos today!

Hello Marci,
Wow! Hard to decide. So many good things! Here is my list.
Bread Bags
Norpro Stainless Steel Divider/Scraper
Reusable Cotton Tea Bags
Pizza & Pastry Roller
Thanks for doing this. Hope that you are all doing well.

Hi Marci,
Aren't you the sweetest thing to want to get us out of our winter doldrums! I would love, love to have a stainless cake pan with a lid. I actually use these to cook briskets in, but a cake or two would be nice as well. Have a wonderful week and stay warm!

I love the blue, green, and red spice jars. That is what I would spend a gift certificate on.

Hi Marci,
If I could I would get the stainless steel jelly roll pan. It would be great for making cookie bars and granola. All your baking pans look great.
Thanks,
Michele

Hi, I love your country store, so many things to choose from.
I would spend the $20 on some of those spice jars. Love the blue ones! And that peanut butter mixer thing is the neatest. I love nat. pnut butter but as you say, when you try to stir it up the oil gets all over the jar.
Thanks for doing the giveaway.

Hello!
Beautiful farm!
Your contest is working on this new visitor. :-) I would buy blue spice jars and stainless steel bread pans. I would not go over the $20 if I could help it, because we are saving for some needed repairs to our house. But next fall I will come back to buy red and green spice jars to use for giving homemade vanilla sugar for Christmas.

I have posted a link to your giveaway at http://frugalhacks.com/forum/giveaways/20-gift-certificate-drawing/

Thanks!
Anne-Marie

The stainless steel stuff is awesome! You have a nice store there!

It is a hard decision about what to buy. If I had the money it would go towards a food dryer. Otherwise I love those colored little jars that are almost gone, the buckets and lids. Blessings. I am going to try later to get your logo on my blog and when I do I will comment again.

OK I did it. I thought it would take longer but the computer and my brain cooperated. I put the pic and the links on my blog. Here. http://www.homesteadblogger.com/abigasfarm/ Thanks, and blessings.

Hi!
I looked around and would like to have some gamma lids for all those 5 gallon buckets I have around here. I just started milling my own wheat and those look like they would help me store it.
thanks and God bless, ann

A lovely bloggy Giveaway. Thank you!
You have many great things in your general store, but I believe I'd want a couple stainless steel jelly roll pans. They have been on my wishlist for quite a while. :~)
Thank you.
Blessings,

Your store has a lot of things I have been looking for and haven't had any luck finding. Like bread bags, reusable cotton tea bags, jar/serving spoons, the natural peanut butter mixer, and the food grade plastic buckets. I would love a Nutrimill grain mill, but that's a little out of my budget right now. Anyway, you have great items, and I expect I'll be bookmarking your store and purchasing many items in the future!
