Today our fellowship met in our home. The daughter of the Wonderful Neighbors brought me this drawing she did. I cried. Didn't she do a good job of drawing Dixie? She has her paw up, which was just what Dixie did and she also put a yellow tennis ball in the picture, which was a favorite toy.
Today felt like a heat wave. I think it got up to around 35. Last night it got down at least 12. That is what it was when we got up this morning.
Two different men talked this morning about facing the giants in your life. Everyone has them and they can all be different. The one man shared Psalm 57.
Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. David was on his own. He could not go home because he was a hunted man. Yet, you see that he was totally expecting God to rescue him. He praised the Lord because he knew who was in control. What are the giants in your life? Are you looking forward with anticipation to the help and answers that God is going to send? I have a friend who just rests and trusts in the Lord. She sees lots of answers to her prayers. I believe this is because she is truly trusting the situation to God. She allows Him to work in is own way. I was talking with someone this weekend. Her son had to do something that was very hard. She asked him how he did it and he envisioned angels with swords of fire and Jesus Himself there with him as he walked through his trial. Goliath was a giant, but he was not too big for God to handle. Trust God to slay your giants for you. Then rest.
