Count Your Blessings Monday!!

Here is an opportunity for all of us to give thanks unto the Lord for a blessing in our lives. If you would like to take part great. If not that is OK too. If you would like to share your blessing, just leave it in the comments. If you want to use the picture above and list a blessing on your own site, then leave a URL to your site in the comments. There is no pressure here. I just know that I am incredibly blessed and I would like to share that and give thanks to Him who all blessing come from. This is a way that we can encourage one another. I know that I am often encouraged when someone shares a blessing with me. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

Today, I am thankful for the seasons. I am grateful that we were able to enjoy the Spring. In Florida we had flowers year round, but no great big awakening where blooms were everywhere like a northern Spring. It makes you want to walk around and sing. You see that fresh green that is only seen in the springtime. Every tree is full of blossoms and most of them smell wonderful. There are flowers that we only see in Spring.

Then comes Summer. The warms days with bees buzzing and birds teaching their little ones how to fly. You see the crops growing and watch your garden burst with its fruits. You get to enjoy fresh sweet corn and juicy watermelon. And oh, we don't want to forget that first taste of a garden fresh tomato!! Tomato & onion sandwiches are a staple in the Summer

God gets out His paint brush in the Autumn and uses a whole new palette of colors. He takes those green trees and starts to add little dabbles of color here or there. He uses the sunshine He sends to bring spots of color to the woods. Wherever the sun shines through, color appears. Even the lighting is different in the Autumn.

Winter has a beauty of its own. It is a much more stark type of beauty. The trees reach up with their bare arms. The snow comes and puts a white edge on each branch and twig. You can bundle up by the fire and read or knit. Life slows down a bit and you get to rest more. Winter is here. We have had little bits of snow, but not much. It started snowing last night and we woke up to close to 2" of snow. It covers up everything and looks so beautiful. I am grateful that we were able to stock up on firewood to keep the house warm. I can sit out by the fire with the glow of the Christmas tree lights and sip my coffee. It is a blessing to sit by the fire and read my Bible and spend time in prayer.

Each season has something special of its own. I think my favorite season is Autumn, but I love them all. I missed having 4 distinct seasons when I lived in Florida. That is why I count it as a blessing to have them now. You don't realize what you have until it is gone.

What is your favorite season and why?

I enjoyed your blog this morning. I could "see" all the things you were saying, in my minds eye.
I am thankful for the blessing of words. Words can paint pictures as well as a paintbrush...just like you did in this blog. The more I loose my hearing the more thankful I am for words. I rely on them when I see a movie at home or watch t.v.(although we don't have cable right now and I don't miss it!). I can text my family and friends and "talk" to them, which is such a blessing. I so love to read and get lost in the stories, whatever they may be. When I don't understand the spoken words to music I can read them and still get the meaning and feeling of the song.
So, that is what I am thankful for today.

I would have to say Autumn is my favorite. The colors of the trees, the crisp autumn air, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, and nice hot cups of tea on a chilly afternoon.
