Thoughts to Chew On

I read the following in my Bible study this week. I thought it was a good thing to chew on and use in self examination.

Unquestionably, pride is one of the most prominent subjects addressed in Scripture. The Bible uses at least 17 different words (and countless derivatives) to describe this spiritual disease. However, no matter which term is used, there is almost always a connotation of height; something high, rising, exalted, or being lifted up. Thus a proud person has a high estimation of himself and lifts himself above those around him. This concept of self-exaltation forms the basis for our working definition of pride: Having an exaggerated sense of one's own importance and a selfish preoccupation with one's own rights. It is the attitude that says, "I am more important than you and, if need be, I will promote my cause and protect my rights at your expense."

We love having people visit our blog. Please take the time to leave a note so that we know you were here. You don't have to have a blog to leave a note. If you have something negative to say, you are welcome to say it. However, if you leave it anonymously it will not be posted. It seems the people who like to correct me or say ugly things, don't want to leave their name or a way I can respond to them.

May the Lord richly bless each of you!!!
