I woke up this morning and the man that I so love was already up. He came over and wished me a Happy Birthday. I stayed in bed and pondered many things. I thought of all the birthdays that I have had. This is number 50 for me, so there have been many. I think back over all the relationships that are in my life or have been in my life. I would love to have my Mom call and wish me a happy day. I got a very mushy card from my Dad which made me cry. I think of relationships that are strained and I long for them to be restored. I think of the many friends that God has blessed me with. I have been getting e-cards for several days now. I got many birthday greetings via email. Already this morning, I have had one family call me and sing birthday wishes to me.
My heart keeps coming back to the relationships that are strained and not right. I have done what I can to restore them and I need to just pray and wait. I am not sure why (I don't know if it has to do with the mile marker this year), but I am realizing more and more that time is very short. We need be about the Lord's business and redeeming the time. Life is too short to hold grudges or hurt feelings. We are called to take the high road. May the Lord show each of us where we need to grow and change. May each birthday remind us that time is passing and we have work to do, family to love and people to reach out to.
