We are very blessed to live on a farm. We love old fashioned ways of doing things that seem to be fading away. We realize that this lifestyle is not for everyone but we are very grateful that God allows us to enjoy it.

Show And Tell Friday
Kelli hosts a show and tell Friday. Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!
Once again, I am going to share some of my son's handiwork. These first 3 pictures are of lucets. A lucet is a two-pronged tool used to produce a square, braided cord. The cord had many uses, from threading through clothes to drawstrings on purses. The size of the thread used determined the size of the cord. We have a friend who makes her children's shoestrings with these cords. Because the cord is square, they don't come untied. He made these and sold them for awhile. They are out of exotic woods. The third one is made out of 3 woods he put together.
This is a trivet he made for me out of oak. It sits on our table and holds a hot casserole dish. He worked really hard to figure out what pattern the would be on the sides. He did not want it just straight. He has a true cabinet maker's eye and is a perfectionist. =)

Good work! Are you in Iowa by chance? If you are nearby - I would LOVE for him to make me one of those wooden things that holds your trash can. Is he for hire? =-)

Very talented wood work!
I love the woodwork. What a God given talent your son has. What a blessing to see him using it to bless his family. (I would be afraid to use the trivit - for fear I would ruin it :)
Thanks for sharing. I love your site. I will stop back by and enjoy it some more!
