This is my wood burning cookstove. It is a Pioneer Maid. It was my only stove to cook on for awhile. It is still the only source of heat that our house has. It is funny how things seem to taste better when cooked on this stove.
We are very blessed to live on a farm. We love old fashioned ways of doing things that seem to be fading away. We realize that this lifestyle is not for everyone but we are very grateful that God allows us to enjoy it.
We love having people visit our blog. Please take the time to leave a note so that we know you were here. You don't have to have a blog to leave a note. If you have something negative to say, you are welcome to say it. However, if you leave it anonymously it will not be posted. It seems the people who like to correct me or say ugly things, don't want to leave their name or a way I can respond to them.
May the Lord richly bless each of you!!!
Wow that is one great stove. I bet it really puts the heat out, too.
ReplyDeleteblessings...
I have always loved that stove....maybe one day I can have one. Probably when Elijah can buy me one. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is one nice stove. :-D
ReplyDeleteThat is just one of the neatest things I have ever seen. I'll bet it gets pretty cold though with that as your only source of heat. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh how neat!!! In the early 1960's we moved to Denver and rented an old house. The stove in it was a combination wood and gas stove. Being a young bride in my 20's I was completely blown away with it. I would give anything to have it today!!! Thanks for sharing.

Marci,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! We have an antique gas stove from my great-great aunt. Right now it's in the garage, but one day will have it restored. I would love to use it in my kitchen.
Paula
Looks lovely in your home and is probably doing a great job of heating.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Connie
SO TRUE!! When I was a kid we had a wood burning stove similiar to that one, and that sucker could heat the whole house.... course back then I hated the fact that I had to wake up and get the fire started each morning at 6:30
ReplyDeleteI love your stove! My grandmother has a wood cookstove in her kitchen when she lived in the country. How I loved sitting by it while she cooked.
ReplyDeleteThat is so great! I love wood stoves. My husband grew up with one as their heat source on a mountain in a rather large house. I am always amazed at how cozy and warm their house is in the winter. And I LOVE to go sit by it when we come in from the cold. Theirs isn't as pretty as yours though! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Marci,
ReplyDeleteI bet the food does taste better on that woodstove. My grandparents had a cabin that used a woodstove for heat and cooking. The food she made was fantastic.
I love the feel of your blog and have bookmarked it for a return when I have a bit more time.
:)
Wow! What an antique treasure that is. Love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful stove, Marci! I wish I could cozy up in the chair beside it and I could smell all the yummy things cooking away!

What a neat stove to have! It adds so much character to the room!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat stove! Looks like Little House on the Prairie!
ReplyDeleteI love your stove! It looks like a wonderful place to sit and warm your tootsies in the winter. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat! I wouldn't know where to begin cooking on that. I bet you turn out some tasty dishes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat stove! There is a wood stove in our family room that came with the house, but we have never used it! Florida just doesn't have the right weather...thanks for sharing. Cassie
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful!! I'd love a stove for warming the house in the winter!!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! I have a sister in law who lives on a farm and she still only uses her wood stove to cook and bake. As you said, the food just seems to taste so much better cooked on one!! xo
ReplyDeleteOh Marci, how wonderful to have such a stove, I LOVE these kind of treasure with lots of history behind! Do you know its year of manufacture?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, that's a very nice patchwork blanket over there on that rocking chair on the right side! I adore that pattern! Did you make it on your own? (You may know from my blog that I am very much interested in sewing, too)
Best wishes from Germany,
Anita
Very nice! I'd love to have one of those. We have a wood burning stove-our only heat. It has a flat top so I can cook on top of it when the electricity is out~which happens a lot in the country!
ReplyDeleteI was scrolling down on your blog and spied this treasure. My grandmother had one in her kitchen!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sparking a memory!
