Count Your Blessings Monday

I am giving us an opportunity every Monday to not only count our blessings, but to share them with others. This is a way that we can encourage one another. Make a post on your blog telling us about your blessing. Please put a link back to this post. You can add the URL of your blog post on Mr. Linky below. Many of our blessings we will have pictures of and we can share those as well. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. They encourage others. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

I am counting my family as a blessing again. I am truly blessed. I have a wonderful husband. We have been married for 28 years. He takes such good care of me. One of the way he takes care of us as a family is to take the time to teach us. On Sunday, our little fellowship was not going to be meeting. He prepared something to share with Joshua and I. He truly tries to please the Lord in all that he does. He shared some things out of Ephesians regarding ways that we can walk in the Spirit each day. We need to watch our attitudes, our words, our focus. Many people don't even know that the following Scripture is in the Bible. Some know about it and don't think it is for them.

Eph 5:3-5 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

We talked about how easy it is to talk foolishly and always make jokes. Or to talk about things that have nothing good about them. Like spending conversation time on bodily functions. There is another verse that tells us we will be judged for every idle word. He shared with us, how we need to take the higher road when people around us start these sorts of conversation. Also, we should not be the one to start them.

I am also thankful for my son. He is 23 years old and lives at home. He has been doing Bible studies with his Dad to see what he needs to change and embrace to be a godly husband and father. He is choosing not to date, but to pray and seek the Lord about his wife. He went to a neighboring town last night to pick up something for us. He wanted me to go with him. This is not something that happens all the time, but it thrills me when it does happen. He still enjoys being with his parents.

I am also thankful for my Dad. He got married on October 1st to a wonderful woman named Alice. Just listening to him allows you to hear his happiness. He still misses my Mom, but now he has someone to share the days with. They get along really well and they enjoy one anothers company. I am thrilled for both of them.

What are you counting as a blessing from God today?

We need to take time to count our blessings. I love that song "Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessing, see what God hath done.

I was blessed today with the company of my oldest grandson. He came last night to stay overnight and was here until 4 pm. He is on the autistic spectrum, so he can make life stressful, but I'm still blessed to have a high functioning autistic grandson. He looks at the world much differently than he does and has a unique perpective on life. He's 12 and in those years I've been blessed many times over.

Enjoyed my visit.

Oh Marci...it is my prayer that when my children get older they will still want their Mama around too. :D

What a wonderful family to be blessed with! I am hoping my son will be like that as he continues to grow up. Nothing like them "wanting" to spend time with you.

That is wonderful to hear about a young man who is interested in serving the Lord and enjoying being with his mom and dad. I wonder just how many there are? My daughter is 21 and has never dated either. She says she's content with working and playing in the Gospel group until the Lord decides to have her meet the man she has been waiting for. Sad to say that many of the churches we visit have a lack of young people.
I'd say we both have rare treasures in our children and are very much blessed.

How lovely to see that you have taught your son to keep his priorities in order.

We are courtship minded too. My daughter just turned 20 on Saturday, and is very content to be a nanny for two precious little children. Other than my husband, she is my best friend and has always been an absolute joy to us.

I'm so thankful for the teaching we've received over the years to show that there is another path.
