Count Your Blessings Monday

I am giving us an opportunity every Monday to not only count our blessings, but to share them with others. This is a way that we can encourage one another. Make a post on your blog telling us about your blessing. Please put a link back to this post. You can add the URL of your blog post on Mr. Linky below. Many of our blessings we will have pictures of and we can share those as well. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. They encourage others. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!!

Today, I am counting prayer as a blessing. God is so faithful to answer our prayers. He might not always answer the way we want Him to, but He does answer. I want to tell you about a couple of our prayer requests this weekend.

It is unseasonably hot here. Our normal frost date is Sept. 20th. We have not had a frost yet. Today it was in the low 90's which is unheard of here in Ohio in October. We are also still in drought conditions. We do not have air conditioning in the whole house, just the two bedrooms. My bedroom door opens into the office. If I close the office up and leave the bedroom door open then the office is cool as well. We have a recliner in there and another chair besides the desk chair. Sometimes the three of us sit in there and talk, etc if it is really hot. Well, we turned the AC on this past week. On Friday everything was fine... not the faintest whiff of a smell. Then on Saturday morning, I did not smell anything... maybe because I was already in there. I went out and made coffee and sat down to have my quiet time. Then went back into the room to get dressed. WOW... the smell in the office and bedroom was almost over powering. A mouse must have died in the wall. We have had this happen before when we put poison out, snd we know that it takes about a week to go away. We have not put any poison out in well over a year. Anyway, it was our only place of refuge. We would come in and do what we needed to and then you would sort of get used to it. Then if you had to go back out to use the bathroom or something, when you came back in it was over powering again. Then we were going to watch a movie Saturday evening. We were going out to finish our outside chores. I headed for the door and looked down on the floor by the window and what did I see??? A SNAKE!!!! In my house. I told Michael to get something because we had a snake. He grabbed the poker for our wood stove and when he came over that snake went right under my baseboard and disappeared. We tried everything to get it to come out. We even tried jumping a bit on the baseboard to smash it... (the snake not the baseboard). =) The baseboard did not move. So, we went out and did chores. When we came back in, we put the movie on. Every so often, I would walk over and look for that critter.

I prayed about the snake. We were getting ready to go to bed. I asked the Lord to either make the snake go back outside and stay there, or to have it come out so that we could take care of it. Then I went over and looked and there he was. I hollered for the menfolk. Michael grabbed the poker again and pinned its tail. He told me to get some tongs for Joshua to get it with. The only tongs I could find quickly, just barely came together on the tips. They were more salad type tongs. So, I got out a pair of wire cutters from the kitchen drawer. Joshua got him with those and was able to dispatch the snake and take it outside. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Then today the smell was bad this morning, but when we got home from church, it was almost gone and is barely noticeable. God is SO GOOD... All the time!!!! That is my blessing for today.

I just hate the idea of a snake in the house! I'm so glad God answers prayers!

Maybe the snake was just looking for a little "mice snack"? ;)
