Name The Calf Contest!!

This post will stay at the top until the end of the contest. Please scroll past it for newer posts.

If you have been reading my blog, then you know we just had a new calf born on Saturday. This calf is a bull calf, meaning he is a little boy. He is half jersey and half angus. He has a tiny white spot on his forehead and a larger white spot on one knee. He will become meat in our freezer in about 18 months. With all that in mind, I am looking for name suggestions for him. I am not sure what the prize will be yet, but I will let you know. The other calves on the farm right now are Texas T-Bone, Sir Loin of Beef and Bullseye. So, those names will not be allowed. Use your thinking caps and be creative. Just know that it is easier to eat T-Bone, then Little Buttercup. =) The final approval will come from my husband. Leave your suggestion in the comments section.

How about Rib Eye, Porter or Blackie? Hmm... I will have to keep thinking. Our neighbors have quite a herd - but I don't think they name them!

How about something simple like "Spot"--or the German version (der)"Fleck".

We just finished eating "Herman". He was about 2 foot taller than the rest of the calves since he was holstein/angus. Herman from the Munsters just suited him.

Here's one he will probably live up to and you will probably call him once or twice, at least. Stupid calf! LOL..

I have thought of a couple of more: Chuck (as in chuck roast or ground chuck); Hamburger Patrick (call him Hamburger Patty for short); Tips (as in beef tips).

When I heard of the one cow's name was Bull's Eye it made me the of our state's nickname Buckeye. I know he's not a deer but anyway.

My neighbor named all his cows Molly whether they were male or female! So I vote for Molly!

Just wanted to say how much I envy your farm life. That is the life that I would have loved to have. But alas, life got in the way.
